Remembering Robert Reisinger
On May 17th, we lost Robert Reisinger, a visionary and pioneer whose contributions to both the motocross and mountain biking communities will resonate for generations. Robert was more than just an innovator—he was a racer, an engineer, a family man, and a friend.
Robert’s journey began on the fast-paced SoCal motocross circuit in the late ’70s, where his skill on the track earned him factory support from Kawasaki. But it wasn’t just his speed that set him apart; his technical brilliance saw him shaping the bikes that would carry future champions to victory.
The ’80s brought new challenges, and Robert embraced them with the same passion. The mountain bike revolution was underway, and Robert was at the forefront, developing groundbreaking technology that redefined what a bike could do. His Pro-Stop disc brake and Suspender inverted suspension fork were just the beginning. The Mountain Cycle San Andreas, with its bold design and advanced engineering, set a new standard in the sport.
As Mountain Cycle grew, so did Robert’s impact on the industry. His bikes weren’t just innovative—they were game-changers, pushing the boundaries of performance and design. Even as he sold Mountain Cycle and moved on to other ventures, his influence remained strong, culminating in the creation of 6D Helmets. Here, Robert once again broke new ground, developing the Omni-Directional Suspension system that revolutionized rider safety.
Yet, beyond his professional achievements, Robert was a man who valued family, friendship, and community above all. His warmth, generosity, and unwavering support for those around him defined his legacy as much as his innovations. Whether on the track, in the workshop, or at home, Robert’s spirit of excellence and compassion was ever-present.
Robert leaves behind a lasting legacy, not just in the products he created, but in the lives he touched. He is survived by his son Nicholas, wife Kristina, his father, and four siblings, who, along with the countless friends and colleagues who knew him, will forever cherish the memories of a man who truly lived life to the fullest.
