Update 03/01/20
My oncologist said 7 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy were needed to treat my cancer with 90% or better odds of survival if I complete the treatment.
The first half of treatment went smoothly but the second half was difficult. Luckily I went in prepared and in good shape. The radiation burned my neck and the inside of my throat area and I couldnβt eat for a month. Went from 192 lbs. to 148 lbs. in 4 weeks. The chemo also was difficult towards the end making me vomit about 30 times a day.
My last treatment was in November and Iβm still trying to gain all my weight back. I currently weigh 165 lbs and am now eating on a regular basis! I feel much better but still have a long road to recovery.
I would like to thank Mike and everyone at Road 2 Recovery for the financial help and fundraising to assist with my medical bills and responsibilities, thank you.οΈ
Greg Schnell is currently in a fight for his life after being diagnosed with Squamous cell Carcinoma in August of 2019. The cancer was detected after months of doctor appointments and surgeries. This Process started in April 2019 post finding a swollen lymph node on the left side of his neck. This lymph node was originally thought to be from an impacted wisdom tooth or so the doctors thought. Taking doctors suggestions; Schnell decided to have all of his wisdom teeth removed back in June of 2019. However, the lymph node remained swollen. More test followed including CT scanβs, PET scanβs, biopsy and then surgery to find where the problem was originating from. After monthβs of invasive test and surgeries to locate the source of the problem, cancer at the base of tongue was his final prognosis.
On August, 16 2019 Schnell had surgery to remove the cancerous lymphs nodes on the left side of his neck. The process of finding and treating this cancer has been long and difficult but nothing compared to whatβs up next for him and his family. The road map post surgery starts on September 24th with Radiation and Chemotherapy every week for the next seven weeks. One thing is for sure, this is going to be a fight he does not intend on losing!
Schnell has insurance that covers some of the expensive procedures performed and scheduled. However not all of this is covered in his current policy. If you are able and inclined to help a member of the moto family please click the link and donate here. All donations are tax-deductible and will go towards medical bills that Schnell accumulates while fighting for his life.
Please leave a positive message for Greg Schnell to read. These messages are a wonderful way to keep him motivated while going though a very tough time in his life.
