Check out this amazing video on Todd’s recovery by Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital.

UPDATE 3/17/21

Day three at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan: On March, 15th Todd and Robyn were seamlessly medically air transported from Daytona to Michigan. With the excitement of finally getting back to his home state, Todd fell behind on his pain medication and didn’t sleep the first night. The team here is slowly getting the pain back under control; the staff at Mary Free Bed are excellent. They have made every accommodation possible to ensure the next leg of Todd’s journey is as smooth as possible.

The covid restrictions in Michigan are making it hard for family and or friends to visit. We hope they lift these soon as Todd will spend the next 4-6 weeks here. Todd’s recovery is still hopeful, though, at this time, there is no change in his recovery since our last post. Right now, Robyn is staying in Todd’s room pretty much 24/7. Todd and Robyn’s daughters, Mariah and Kennedy, have been an absolute blessing to their father, looking after him while Todd was at Halifax hospital and giving him unwavering love and support. This process is tough on the family. Together they are doing a fantastic job making sure Todd has their support and someone with him at all times. Kennedy will be back in Michigan soon; this will give Robyn some time to address a few housekeeping needs she cant handle from the hospital. Due to COVID, only one family member can stay with Todd at a time.

Todd and his family send their thanks and love to everyone supporting them with prayer or financially through Road 2 Recovery. They also want to thank you all for the calls and messages. They feel so blessed by you all!

UPDATE 3/15/21

Todd DeHoop has been released from the hospital at Halifax Health Medical Center, in Flordia and medically air transported to Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He will be re-evaluated and his team of doctors will assess his status to decide the best course of action. More updates will be posted soon.

On Sunday, March 7, Todd DeHoop suffered a major crash during a practice session at the Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Vintage Supercross Championship in Daytona, Florida, sustaining a severe spinal cord injury. DeHoop was immediately transported to Halifax Health Medical Center, where a team of physicians is assessing his injuries.

DeHoop fractured his C3 Vertebrae, causing a cord contusion; crushing of the cord from his C-03/C-04 down to T2, and torn ligaments all along the spine. As a result of his injuries, Todd has very limited mobility with his right side the least reactive and no motor skills, but he does have micro-movement in his arms and legs. No surgery has been performed at this time; his physicians are waiting for the swelling to subside to determine the best course of action.

Once DeHoop has medical clearance for hospital transfer, he will be transported to Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan; a hospital closer to his hometown of Zeeland. He will start a long and intense in-patient physical therapy program to help regain his body’s functionality with the hope of walking again.

The Road 2 Recovery Foundation has established a fundraising campaign to support Todd as his medical bills are expected to be substantial even after his insurance is applied. As always, R2R is a nonprofit 501(c) (3), and your donation toward Todd’s fund is tax-deductible in the U.S. This is a very difficult time for the DeHoop family; they are exceedingly grateful for all the prayers and support. As more information on Todd’s recovery becomes available, we will update his R2R page.

Thank you for the support!
